Kathleen “Kate” Blumberg, 89, of Greenville, passed away at her home on her 
birthday, Thursday, July 22, 2004.  She was born in Greenville on July 22, 
1915, the daughter of Walker and Sarah Nielsen Nelson and was a graduate of 
Blanchard High School.  

She was employed at Wolverine Glove and Shoe Factory for many years and after 
retirement she continued to work for Spartan Packaging.  She was a member of 
Greenville First United Methodist Church, the Homemakers of the church and was 
a member of the Danish Sisterhood.  After becoming a widow, she enjoyed 
traveling, especially with her lady friends.  She was married March 1, 1940, to 
Stanley M. Blumberg and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1984.

She is survived by her son Stanley M. Blumberg Jr., and his wife, Karen, of 
Greenville; daughter, Maxine and husband, Richard Thomas of Greenville; 
grandchildren, Wendy and Marlin Jeffrey of Lowell, Gwen and Mark Schoenfelder 
and Lauri and Lee Bahlman all of Greenville, Heidi and Steve Funk of Kentwood, 
Katie Westmoreland of Alabama; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Thomas, Garrett, 
Roger, Jacob, Ryan, Logan, Emily, David, Sarah, Michael, Andrew, Austin; 
sister, Donna Wallaker of Florida; brother, Clayton and Florence Nelson of 
Blanchard; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 
Greenville, with Rev. Dr. Harry R. Johnson officiating.  Burial is in Rest 
Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.  Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. 
Sunday at Hurst Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland 
Hospice of Greenville First United Methodist Church.
