Blunt, 77, Belding, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at his residence. He was born July 5, 1920, in Elsie to Cleon and Mamie Starky Blunt. He graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1938, and was a veteran of World War II. He was the former owner and operator of the Blunt Insurance Agency for several years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Blunt served on the city council from Nov. 10, 1952, to Nov. 9, 1959. During his tenure, he was mayor from Nov. 11, 1957, to Nov. 9, 1959. He was married Aug. 14, 1941, in Belding, to Lola B. Chickering. She preceded him in death Jan. 13, 1987. He is survived by his children, Carol and Douglas Ferman, Dan W. and Debbie Blunt, all of Belding; six grandchildren, Dan W. Jr., Diana Lynn, Shelly, Steve, Scott, Jeff; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding, with the Rev. Darwyn Hassert officiating. Interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of the American Heart Association.
