Bolender was born in Uniontown, Stark Co., Ohio, February 8, 1827, and died at his home in Hubbardston, December 28, 1904, in his seventy-eighth year. He lived in his native town, in Ohio, until 1867 when he went to Akron where he remained until 1880, at which time he purchased a farm just south and east of Hubbardston. This was his home until last summer when he moved into the village. His wife died February 8, 1892. In Ohio Mr. and Mrs. Bolender were identified with the Reformed Church, but when they came to Hubbardston there was no organization of that faith there, so they identified themselves with the Congregationalists. Mr. Bolender was highly respected for his sterling qualities, he was a model citizen, a kind and obliging neighbor, and a jovial companion, even in his declining years. He distributed his kind words as he did his kind deeds, unostentatiously, but with good results. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Frank of Plainwell, Milo of Sparta, and Misses Maggie and Hattie Bolender, who lived at home and made his declining years comfortable and pleasant. The sympathy of all who knew him goes out to the family in their sorrow. Funeral services were held at the home, Friday afternoon, and were largely attended. Burial was made in the family lot in the West Side cemetery. Frank and Milo Bolender and their families, and two brothers-in-law, D. F. Frank of Massillon, Ohio, and J. D. Frank of Canton, Ohio, were among those from out of town who attended.
