He was born on the Roach family farm in Hubbardston, Michigan to Walter and Rose ((Roach) Bollinger on November 10, 1933. As a boy, Bud helped his dad build a new house for their family in Ionia.His dad passed away when Bud and his brother were young.His mom worked hard raising two young boys.He graduated from St.Peter & Paul School in Ionia in1952 where he was known for his basketball skills. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Kathleen Mcllhargery on September 7, 1957, n Ionia.She preceded him in death in 2016. They were proud parents of Debra Ann (Steven) Walter, Stephen (Connie) Bollinger, and Cindy (Pat) Keating. Stephen preceded him in death in 2018. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Nikki Walter, Ryan (Royale) Walter, Matthew (Jessica) Walter, Kathleen (Kurtis) Dollison, Maggie Numschy, Aiden Munschy, David Bollinger, Alysha Bollinger, Bridgett (Ryan) Adams,Rudi (Tyan) Thruston, Stacy (Brian) Christly, and Brandy Pearce. His great grandchildren; Tessa, Olivia, Parker, Mcalie, Blakely, Preston, Greyson, Easton, Benson, Cale, Tristan, Aiden, Stevi, Jayden, Sebastian, Addy, Autum, Emily, Jazper, Copper, and Braham. He is survived by his brother, Bruce and sister-in-law, Nancy Bollinger. Bruce and Bud were Irish twins and the best of friends. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bud was a hard worker for his family. He worked at Berger Chevrolet in ionia and at MTU Correctional Facility as a Lieutenant for 25 years.His wish was to be able to retire early and he has been retired for 36 years.Bud loved golfing and spending time with his friend and his son-in-law, Steve. He loved to entertain, and you could always count on a Keystone beer! In respect of Bud's wishes, there will be a private family service at the Cemetery.A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Just Like Home Adult Day Center, 330 4th St., Ionia, MI 48846. In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations can be made to St.Peter & Paul School in Ionia or University of Michigan childhood cancer research.
