Killed by Train.

Mrs. E.L. Bolster, of Orleans, Struck and Thrown 40 or 50 feet.

A most shocking accident occurred at Orleans station a few miles southeast of
this city last Thursday evening by which Mrs. E.L. Bolster lost her life.  Her
home is near the railroad track and it is supposed she was looking for her
grandson, and for some reason did not hear the approaching east bound Pere
Marquette passenger train.  She was struck and thrown a distance of 40 or 50
feet, a leg and an arm being broken and internal injuries sustained.  She only
lived about an hour and remained in a semi-conscious state, inquiring if the boy
was hurt and if the train struck her, not seeming to fully understand what the
trouble was.  Further particulars are given by our Orleans correspondent on

Orleans:  We are called to note the sad accident that befell our much respected
friend and neighbor, Mrs. E.T. Bolster, while crossing the Pere Marquette
railroad in search of her grandson, on Thursday evening about six o’clock, when
she was almost instantly killed by the coming engine.  The funeral services were
conducted by Rev. Dr. Ogden, of Lyons, Saturday at 2 o’clock at M.E. church;
burial at Green’s cemetery.  The comforting words to the bereaved husband, son
and family, were taken from St. Johns, xiv chapter, 27 verse.  The many
beautiful floral tributes and other acts of kindness were appreciated very much
by the family.  Miss Addie Lucinda Yates was born in Wheatfield, Calhoun county,
October 27, 1849, and was married to E.T. Bolster; March 6, 1869, and died July
17, 1902.
