The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, March 1989
Elsie M. Boltz, 96, of Ionia, died March 10 at the Greenville Care Center in 
Greenville.  She was born in Ionia on June 20, 1892 to George and Anna (Tiley) 
Summ.

She attended school at SS. Peter and Paul’s Academy in Ionia and worked as a 
milliner prior to her marriage to Archie Boltz around 1912 in Ionia.  The 
couple lived all their married lives in Ionia and were lifelong members of the 
First Baptist Church in Ionia.  She as preceded in death by her husband on 
December 29, 1962, and one sister.  

She was a member of the church’s CCW and ABW.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Eugenia) Sogns of Ionia; one 
granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial services will be held May 12 at the First 
Baptist Church in Ionia with the Rev. Chester Tanase officiating.  Dorothy 
Horrocks will serve as the organist.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in 
Ionia.  The family requests that memorial contributions be made, in lieu of 
flowers, to the First Baptist Church in Ionia.
