Ionia County News, 2 Nov 1939

Mrs. Mary Boltz, 96, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Strachan,
Monday morning.  October 30.  Mary Birx was born in Butler county, Pennsylvania,
December 2, 1843, and married to John Boltz in 1861.  In 1875 they came to Ionia
county and in 1884 they bought the farm in Ionia township which was her home for
55 years.

Surviving relatives are three daughters, Mrs. Mary Smith, Mrs. Emma Strachan,
and Mrs. Sadie Hayes; three sons, Archie, Ted and John, and one sister, Mrs.
Margaret LaDow of Lansing.

Funeral service was held from the farm home Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock.
 Burial was in Highland Park cemetery.
