Bonn, 74, of Ionia, died Wednesday at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born September 27, 1912, the son of Alfred and Katherine Wolfe Bonne, in Ft. Wayne, Ind. He married Katherine Schimonsky August 22, 1936, in Union town, Penn., moved to the Ionia area in 1938. He was a retired medical attendant with General Motors, Oldsmobile Plant 2, in Lansing, for 32 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the first Baptist church, Ionia Masons, Lodge No. 36, Ionia Chapter No. 14 R.A.M., Ionia Commandery No. 11, K.T., Queen Esther Chapter No. 35, and the White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 41. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite of Grand Rapids, and the Saladin Shrine of Grand Rapids. He was voted Ionia’s Mason of the Year in 1986, and was a member of the Senior Citizens of Ionia. He is survived by his wife, Katherine; four daughters, Bonnie Jackson of Saranac, Sandra Bonn of Grand Rapids, Marjorie Stafford of Flint, and Jacqueline Bonn of Kalamazoo; one son, Garner Bonn of Portland; 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Aldrich of Alma, Lucille Hewitt of Ithaca, Hazel Norris of Ithaca, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Edward Bonn, three brothers, and a great granddaughter, Ranae Young. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the First Baptist Church, the Rev. Timothy Gillette officiating. A Masonic memorial service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. The family will be at the Montgomery Funeral Home Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Michigan Heart Association. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
