Bookey, 60, widely known farmer in Grattan township, Kent county, was found dead about 7 a.m. Sunday at his home. He had arisen as usual and had gone outdoors and was found a short time later. Although Mr. Bookey had suffered with a heart ailment some five years, he had been in usual health and had been doing his usual farm work. Coroner Dr. T. W. Bloxsom of Grand Rapids stated that a heart attack was the cause of death. Mr. Bookey was born Oct,. 26, 1889, son of the late Richard and Margaret Bookey, on a farm near his recent home, 5906 Ashley Ave. With the exception of about four years that he operated a farm in Ronald township, Ionia county, Mr. Bookey had resided in the neighborhood where he died. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Ashley Baptist Church of which he was a member. The Rev. H. S. Ellis will officiate and burial will be made in the family lot at Ashley Cemetery. Surviving besides the widow, the former Francis Foy of Grattan, is a son, Edward Bookey, who resides near the family home; two brothers, Tom and John Bookey, and five grandchildren, all living in the same community on adjoining farms.
