Geraldine “Gerry” Boomer, age 101, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2005 at the 
Carson City Hospital.  Gerry was born October 27, 1903 in Lapeer County to Rev. 
Clarence and Sidney (Watkins) Strobridge.  She married James Boomer on March 8, 
1921 in Yale, Michigan.  She belonged to the Hubbardston American Legion 
Auxiliary Post 182 for over 50 years.  Gerry was also a member of the Conejo 
Valley Chapter of NSDAR in Thousand Oaks, CA, and the Hubbardston Historical 
Society.  She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre.  She worked in the 
family business, in Hubbardston, Jim’s Standard Service for many years.

She is survived by three children:  son Orin Boomer of Casper, WY, a daughter 
Pat (Bob) Barnes of Sumner, and a son Dennis (Yvonne) Boomer of Hubbardston, 15 
grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.  Also a 
step sister Dorothy White of Montrose, and a special niece, Patty (Ed) Griffin 
of Thousand Oaks, CA.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, daughter Pauline 
Cusack, son Bruce Boomer, great grandson Scott Cusack, two sisters Ethel Hoyler 
and Bertha Barlow, and a brother Roy Strobridge.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 23rd at 11 .m. at the Lux and 
Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson City with Pastor George Showers officiating.  
Interment will be at West Side Cemetery in Hubbardston.  Visitation will be 
held Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.  
Memorial contributions may be made to Hubbardston American Legion Auxiliary, 
Post 182.
