Borden, 65, well known Ashley woman, passed away at the home of her son, Wesley Borden, in Grand Rapids, Saturday night February 6th. Mrs. Borden had been in failing health for some time due to sugar diabetes but has kept up and three weeks ago went to Grand Rapids for a visit with her sons. After two weeks she was suddenly taken worse and lived only a week, pneumonia setting in at the last. Mrs. Borden was a pleasing woman and highly esteemed by her neighbors and friends who will miss her greatly. Mary Reed Borden was born in Grand Rapids and spent practically all of her life in this locality, moving to the Ashley neighborhood from Grattan Center about 12 years ago. Funeral services were held from the Fitzjohn funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating and burial was made in Otisco cemetery. Survivors besides the husband are two sons, Wesley and Elmer, both of Grand Rapids; also two brothers, Porter Reed, of Grand Rapids, and Carl Reed, of Lansing.
