The Ionia Standard, Friday, May 29, 1896
Marian E., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron H. Borden, died about 7 o’clock 
Thursday eve., of quick consumption.  She was 20 years old November 7th last, 
and was a most amiable girl, of quick intelligence, who was a great favorite 
with those who knew her.  She attended the Ionia schools, and would have 
graduated in the class of this year—96—had she not been compelled to leave 
school two years ago on account of her mother’s health.  Funeral on Sunday at 
2 p.m. at North Plains church, services by Rev. W. H. Scott.
