The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, July 15, 1952

Elmer Ellsworth Borradaile of Route 1, Jasper, died suddenly Monday morning 
about 5:15 at his home.  Death came as the result of a heart attack.

He was born July 27, 1898, at Eaton, Ohio and lived for a while in Iowa.  At 
the age of 12 he moved to Ionia with his parents Clarence and Minnie 
Borradaile and lived on a farm near Spauldings Corners until 31 years ago when 
he went to Lenawee county where he has since resided.  He attended Ionia high 
school for three years and then transferred to Ferris Institute at Big Rapids, 
where he completed his high school work and continued in a commercial course.

On November 12, 1920 he was married to Ruth Moffet at St. Louis, Missouri, and 
they moved to their present farm home. Mrs. Borradaile was also a former 
Ionian, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Moffet.  Mr. Borradaile was an 
active member of the Fairfield Grange for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Ruth H., two daughters, Mrs. J. W. Wright of 
Detroit and Miss Marjorie Borradaile of New York City, one grandson Jeffrey 
Wright of Detroit, a sister Mrs. Raymond Keys of Laurel, Maryland, a brother 
Gilbert Borradaile of Orlando, Florida and nieces, nephews and cousins.

A prayer service will be held at the Borradaile home Thursday at 1:30 o’clock 
with funeral services to be held Thursday at 2:00 o’clock in the Ridgeville 
church.  Burial will be in Ridgeville cemetery.  The Rev. John P. Williams, 
pastor of the Adrian City Friends church, will officiate.
