She left behind to cherish her memories four daughters: Sharon (Duane) Telfor of Eaton Rapids, Judy (Terry) McPherson of Fenwick, Nikki (Terry) May of Lyons, and Lisa Miller of Ionia; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was born the daughter of Ernest and Leda (Peterson) Wheeler on August 23, 1919 in Ionia. She married Earl Borup on October 30, 1938 in South Bend, Ind. and he preceded her in death on Feb. 9. 2000. Country music was a passion for Evelyn. She attended Country Music Jamborees at every opportunity. She loved to collect and make dolls, and attend yard sales, where she found most of her antiques. Evelyn was a member of Shiloh Community Church and she attended regularly until her health failed her. She maintained a close relationship with her church and her pastor. Evelyn and her husband owned and operated the original A&W Drive-in in Ionia, and operated a concession stand at the Ionia Free Fair. Funeral services for Mrs. Borup will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Shiloh Community Church in Orleans with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will be in Balcom Cemetery following the service. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel, Ionia. Contributions in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Shiloh Community Church, Ionia County Memorial Hospital, or the Leukemia Foundation. Envelopes are available at the Cook Funeral Home, Ionia.
