D is dead in France as a result of wounds received in action. Corporal Garret Boursaw is the latest one to be listed in the dead from the old Ionia company. Boursaw was a brother of Corp. Isaac Boursaw, the first one of the company to die in France. Both died of wounds. Garrett Boursaw was not an Ionia boy, but came here from his home in St. Ignace in the summer of 1917 to enlist with the local company. Isaac Boursaw who was employed here had joined Co. D before and when the chances looked good for the trip to the fighting area in Europe two of his brothers came down from their homes in the north and enlisted at the armory here. Two of the three brothers are now dead. And the third one presumably with Co. D still unless wounded and in a French hospital.
