Gladys Bowen, age 86, of Saranac, passed away Dec. 25, 2009 in Arizona.

She was born July 23, 1923 in Ada, Mich. the daughter of Willard and Anna
(Dalstra) Smith.  Gladys married Emery H. Bowen Aug. 28, 1944 in Ionia.  He
preceded her in death May 23, 2009.  She loved having a house full of company so
she could cook and bake for them as well as playing cards and games with her
children and grandchildren.  She was a devoted wife and loved and missed her
husband Emery of 65 years.

She is survived by her son, Gary (Kathleen) Bowen of Ionia; daughters Sandra
(Jack) Ward of Saranac, and Patricia (Patrick) O’Connor of Belding; 11
grandchildren; brother Floyd (Marlene) Smith of Saranac; sister, Elsie (Burt)
Copron of Lowell; brother-in-law Donald Bowen of Plainwell and sisters-in-law,
Elsie Moore of Saranac and Doris (Robert) Harding of Climax.

The family is planning a memorial service in June at their home on David Hwy. in
Saranac.  Arrangements are being cared for by Lake Funeral Home in Saranac.
