Ionia County News, 10 Apr 1947

Mrs. Mary A. Bowen died in a Mt. Pleasant hospital Saturday, April 5.  She was
89 years old.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Palmer H. Taylor, and had
spent most of her long life in Ionia, where she lived on Lafayette St.  She was
a charter member of Queen Esther Chapter No. 35 and a lifelong member of the
Presbyterian church.  Her father was one of the founders of the Ionia Masonic
Blue Lodge and is also credited with organizing the Ionia Presbyterian church. 
Surviving Mrs. Bowen are a brother George Taylor of Rockford and a sister, Mrs.
Grace MacArthur of Blanchard, the last charter member of Queen Esther Chapter,
O.E.S.  Rev. A.J. Westmaas officiated at the funeral service held Tuesday
afternoon.  Burial was in Easton cemetery.
