Ionia Shopper's Guide - Sat. March 28, 2020

BOWEN,Fred C.Bowen Jr. age 91 of Saranac passed away on March 25,2020. 
Fred was born on February 27, 1929 in Ionia, the son of Fred & Alice (Friend) 
Bowen. 
Fred married Beatrice Weeks on November 22, 1947 and they had over 72 years 
together.
Fred enjoyed camping with his wife & family, he also enjoyed riding his bike at 
the Saranac Nature Park where he often peddled 15 to 18 miles per day.

Fred graduated from Saranac High School and spent most of his life as a self-
employed carpenter in the Saranac area. 
In his later years he worked as a construction site manager. 
He served on the Saranac Community fire Department for 39 years where he held 
the positions of Lieutenant, Captain & Assistant Fire Chief respectively. 
Fred was very proud of his lifetime membership with the Boston Saranac 
Historical Society. 
He was a member of the Easton United Methodist Church.

Fred is survived by his wife, his sister Jane (Jerry) Gallagher, children Yvonne 
(Everett) Binder, Dennis G.(Nanci Zeran) Bowen, Cathy (Barry) Badge, Tom 
(Jackie) Bowen, Brian (Kelly) Bowen, Jeff (Paula)Bowen, 14 grandchildren, 22 
great-qrandchildren & 1 great-great-grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home of Ionia.

Box 312, Saranac, MI. 48881, or Easton United Methodist Church, 4970 Potters 
Road, Ionia,MI 48846.
