The remains were brought here Saturday by W. L. Densmore, local undertaker, and the funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home of his son, A. J. Bowen. Rev. W. L. Halladay officiated, and Mrs. G. M. Gamsby and Miss Rachel Mercer furnished the music. Mr. Bowen was born June 23, 1847 in Keene township, where he has lived since as a farmer until failing health compelled him to make his home with the children. In 1871 he was married to Ophelia Beckwith, who passed away in December 1918. Eight children were born to this union, Belle, George, May, A. J., Elmer, Verne, Floyd, and Howard. Interment was in Saranac cemetery. Relatives from out of town to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Duff, of Six Lakes, Mr. and Mrs. Elias Sayles, of Edmore, Verne Bowen of Detroit; Mrs. and Mrs. F. C. Herrick of Flint, Mr. and Mrs. R. Bowen of Grand Rapids.
