Odessa Resident Sixty-Five Years

Mrs. John Bower Died at her Home Here, Saturday, Oct. 1.  Funeral at U.B. Church
Tuesday

Mrs. John Bower, a loyal Christian wife and mother, passed away Saturday, Oct.
1, surrounded by her husband and children.  She had suffered a stroke of
paralysis a week before and little hope had been held for her recovery as she
had been in a condition of coma from which she failed to arouse.

Mrs. Bower was a true help meet of her husband, a faithful Christian mother and
a loyal member of the United Brethren church for many years.  The passing of
Mrs. Bower was the first break in the family and her demise leaves sad hearts to
mourn their loss.

The Bower families have been well-known residents of this community for many
years.  Mr. and Mrs. Bower celebrated their golden wedding five years ago last
February.

Obituary

Rachael Leona Lepard, the oldest child of Jacob and Lucretia Lepard, was born in
Attica, Ohio, September 6, 1857, and died at her home in Lake Odessa, Mich.,
October 1, 1932, at the age of 75 years and three weeks.  She came to Michigan
with her parents at the age of ten years.  She was united in marriage to John M.
Bower, February 4, 1877, by Rev. I.H. Mourer.  To this union were born five
children: Mrs. Emma Griebel, Merton E. Bower, Mrs. Lottie Barker of Lake Odessa,
Tello Bower of Big Rapids, and Mrs. Arvilla Murty of Ypsilanti.  There are 15
grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Jessie [This copy of
