Mrs. Bowers, 84, Died Monday
Mrs. Cora Monks-Bower, 84, died at her home Monday afternoon, following a heart
attack suffered earlier in the morning. She was born December 29, 1863 at Tremaynes Corners
and has lived in Ionia county her entire life. She was the daughter of the late
Gilbert and Sarah McKowen.

Mrs. Bower moved to Lake Odessa about 30 years ago following the death of her
husband Philip Monks. About twelve years ago she married John Bower, who survives.

Mrs. Bower was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church, W.S.W.S. and Aid
Societies.

Surviving besides the husband are a son Earl Monks of Portland, two daughters, Mrs.
Ethel Lawrence of Hastings and Mrs. Zenas Badder of Ionia, a step-son Clyde Monks of
Ionia; three step-daughters, Mrs. J J. Griebel and Mrs. George Barker of Lake Odessa and
Mrs. Arvilla Murty of Grand Rapids and a step-son Tello Bower of Big Rapids; twelve 
grandchildren , nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) at the Evangelical United
Brethren church with burial in Balcom cemetery near Ionia. The Rev. O. L. Heitzel
officiated.
