                         BESSIE L. BOWER

IONIA-Bessie L.Bower, 94, of Ionia, died Saturday at Ionia Manor.

Born Oct. 5, 1894, in Lyons, she was the daughter of Frank and Ella Newhouse 
Jennings.

She moved from the Pewamo area to Portland in 1944 and resided there until 1974 
when she moved to Ionia.

She was a former member of St.Patick's Church, Portland and currently a member 
of SS.Peter & Paul Church, Ionia. She was also a member of SS Peter & Paul's 
Senior Citizens.

She was married to George Spaulding Feb. 8, 1913; he died in 1944.

She was married to George Bower Set 3, 1949; he died in1964.

Surviving are a son,Kenneth Spaulding of Ionia; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-
grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ella Rogers of 
Haslett.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Maxine Wright in 1958 and Dorothy 
Pletz in 1944.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from Cook Funeral Home. A 
prayer service will be held at 7:30 Monday evening at the funeral home.

Burial in East Plains Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. 
Monday.

A Memorial for the Michigan Heart Association has been established inc are of 
the funeral home.
