LaVon R. Bower, 78, of Lake Odessa, passed away on Friday afternoon, March 3, 
2006.LaVon was born in Lake Odessa on Sept. 21, 1927 to Merton and Minerva 
(Avery) Bower. He retired from Fisher Body in Lansing in 1980 after 32 years 
of service.

LaVon enjoyed his afternoon walks through Lake Odessa, and would never turn 
down the neighborhood kids waiting for the school bus, and he always had an 
endless supply of candy for kids of all ages.

LaVon is survived by his children, Merton (Rose) Bower, Robert Bower, Pat 
Walkington, Butch (Janet) Cummins, Mary (Ken) Harrington, and Jean (Dan) 
Echtinaw and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Merton and 
Minerva Bower; his wives, Pat Bower and Evelyn Bower; daughter, Gay Federau; 
and brothers, Harold Bower; his wives, Pat Bower and Evelyn Bower; daughter, 
Gay Federau; and brothers, Harold Bowers, Larry Bower, John Bower, and Maynard 
Bower.

Visitation will be held at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa on 
Wednesday, March 8, 2006 from 3 to 5 p.m. The memorial service begins at 5 
p.m. Interment will take place in Lakeside Cemetery.  Memorial contributions 
may be made to the Kilpatrick United Brethren Church or the American Cancer 
Society.
