Ionia Sentinel Standard - Sept. 30, 2011


Marjorie Bowerman, 90, of Hastings, went to be with her Lord on Sept. 28, 2011. 
She was born April 19, 1921, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Walter and Marion 
(Bartrum) Tyler. 

She attended Saranac and Battle Creek schools. Marjorie was a wonderful 
homemaker. She worked at Orchard Industries in Hastings, Action Rod in Hastings 
and Marges Beauty Shop in Lake Odessa. Marjorie retired from Keeler Brass in 
Lake Odessa. 

Marjorie loved her family. She loved crocheting and being outside tending to 
her roses.

She is survived by her sons, Ralph Bowerman (fiancée’ Mary Esham) of Lake 
Odessa, Les Bowerman of Ioina, James (Brenda) Bowerman of Saranac, Joseph 
(Vicki) Bowerman of Portland; Daughters, Jacklyn Heitman of Marquette, 
Geraldine (Mervin) Nichols of Hastings, Linda (Michael) Neu of California, and 
Janice (James) Hill of Florida; 22 grandchildren and many great and great great 
grandchildren ; brothers, Glenn ( Shirley) Tyler of Ionia and George (Marge) 
Tyler of Saranac; and a sister, Rosalyn (Val) Bennett of Belding.

Marjorie was preceded in death by two daughters, Joann and Janette; sisters 
Hazel Carigon and Ruth Dixon; grandson Ralph Bowerman Jr.; daughter-in-law 
Lucilla Bowerman and son-in-law Marvin Heitman.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with 
Chaplain Joyce Zaagman officiating. Interment Easton Cemetery. The family will 
receive friends and family 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lake Funeral 
Home in Saranac. No visitation will be held in Ionia for Marjorie.
