He was united in marriage with Mary Jane Edmonds, April 1, 1894, who preceded him in death on May 15, 1921. To this union were born seven children, three girls and four boys, Oscar E. of Wadsworth, Ohio, Bell Evelyn who died in infancy, Leo T. of Orrville, Ohio, John L. of Burbank, Ohio, Grace Annie McIlvaine of the Panama Canal zone, Virgil F. of Barberton, Ohio, and Mary Kathryn Dixon who died June 17, 1942. On July 3, 1927, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Hattie Hitt of Woodland, Mich., the ceremony being performed in Burbank, Ohio. They resided there where Mr. Bowers was engaged in the hardware business until the fall of 1935 when they moved to Woodland, Mich. In the spring of 1937 they moved to Lake Odessa where Mr. Bowers operated a boat livery at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn their loss in addition to his widow, five children and 13 grandchildren, one step-son Lloyd Hitt of Woodland, Mich., three step- grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Burial was in the Canaan, Ohio, cemetery.
