The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Monday, December 29, 1952
Mrs. Mary E. Bowlus, 83, of Orleans, died at the Ionia Rest Home Monday, 
December 29, at 1:05 a.m.  She had been a patient there since September 13.  
Mrs. Bowlus had been ill for about 10 years.  She was born April 5, 1869 in 
Pennsylvania, daughter of William and Harriet Jones.  She was married October 
6, 1884 to Abraham L. Bowlus in Attica, Indiana.  He preceded her in death.  
In 1908 they moved to Michigan, living for two years in Greenville and 42 
years in and around Orleans.  She was a member of the Orleans W.S.C.S. and 
attended the Orleans Methodist church.

Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. H. S. Armstrong of Graying and Mrs. 
Lester Hulbert of Orleans, a son, Claude A. Bowlus of Detroit; 8 
grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.  A son, Ben, of Erie, Pennsylvania, 
preceded her in death in September of this year.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fales-Huffman Funeral 
Chapel in Belding.  The Rev. Lester Clough will officiate.  Interment will be 
in Orleans cemetery.
