He had been in ill health for several weeks with heart trouble but he was up and at his oil station on M-44 northwest of Orleans every day until a week ago when his condition became serious and pneumonia developed. Mr. Bowlus was born in Williamsport, Ind., March 25, 1864 and was married October 7, 1884. Had he lived until Sunday he and Mrs. Bowlus would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They came to Michigan 25 years ago, locating first in Greenville and later on a farm in Ronald. They have resided in their present home for the past 15 years. Seven years ago Mr. Bowlus gave up active farming and built an oil station which has operated since. He leaves the widow; four children, Claude, of Birmingham; Ben, of Detroit; Mrs. Mabel Armstrong, of Rochester; Mrs. Georgia Hulbert, of Orleans; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral serviced will be held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. F. G. Wright officiating. Interment will be at Orleans cemetery.
