Portland Observer, 1 Jun 1904

William Egbert “Eggie” Boyden died at his home in this village last Saturday 
afternoon after less than a week’s illness of pleuro-pneumonia.  He would have 
been 46 years of age in August.  He leaves a wife and two small children.  Mr. 
Boyden contracted the disease of which he died while working at night scavenger 
work in the village.  He was born in North Plains township, but came to Portland 
in 1880.  Funeral services were conducted from the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon.
