The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Friday, November 9, 1917
Daniel L. Boyden of Lyons died on Thursday, November 1, aged 77 years.  He had 
been in ill health for some months past, and was taken to the Soldier’s home 
October 30; but could not stand the trip and died two days later.  He enlisted 
in Co. D, 9th Mich. Infantry and served throughout the civil war, being an 
orderly sergeant when discharged.  The only immediate survivor is a daughter, 
Mrs. Nellie Brownell of Grand Haven.  Funeral services were held at Lyons 
Sunday.
