Boynton, 85, widow of B.J. Boynton, who with her husband operated a furniture store and undertaking business in Ionia many years, died Sunday night at 10 o’clock. She had been a patient at Ionia County Memorial hospital the past three weeks and resided for many years at 241 East Washington street. She was born in Mecosta county September 5, 1879, the daughter of John W. and Delilah Schouten Turk. In June 1900 she was married to Benjamin J. Boynton of Big Rapids and the couple came to Ionia in 1908. Joining her husband in a business venture they owned and operated a furniture and undertaking business on Ionia’s Main street from 1916 until his death November 27, 1932. She was an active member of First Methodist church more than 50 years and Janette Howard Sunday school class and was a Communion steward for many years. She was also a life member of Queen Esther chapter Order of Eastern Star and member of Women’s Literary club. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John Rademacher and Mrs. Wallace H. Jackson, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fitch Turk of Big Rapids. Funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at First Methodist church with the Rev. Lester C. Bailey officiating. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery. A memorial will be established at First Methodist church.
