R. Braden came as a surprise to everyone Thursday morning. Mr. Braden had been down town twice on Wednesday, apparently as well as usual. He went to the barn at night milked the cow, came out of the barn, closed the door, when he fell stricken with paralysis. He was able to call his son Donald twice, which were his last words. He passed away at 12:32 Thursday morning. Mr. Braden was one of the first citizens of the village and for several years ran a shoe store in the building now owned by Ed. Shellhorn. He also with his brother, C. S. Braden, was in the lumber business here for a number of years soon after the village was started. He leaves a wife, two daughters, Jennie and Bertha and seven sons, Clarence J., Roy S., Vern S., Harold, Spencer, Donald and Avon. A son Dale died about ten years ago.
