Braden, 79, of Cheyboygan passed away at his home Wednesday, August 1st after a three month illness with a heart ailment. A native of Odessa township, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Braden of Lake Odessa and spent his early years in Ionia County. He served as treasurer of Odessa Township also as local village treasurer and was employed as bookkeeper in the local bank under W. J. Percival. Mr. Braden married Iva Wilcox of Lake Odessa 56 years ago and moved to Cheyboygan in 1910. An expert accountant, he was purchasing agent for the Union Bag and Paper Corp. of Cheyboygan. In 1927 they moved to the Upper Peninsula and for many years he was employed as accountant for the H. P. Hassack Co, and made their home at Sault Set Marie and Cedarville, moving back to Cheyboygan in 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Braden were both outstanding in the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of all the Masonic bodies up to the Shrine holding membership in the White Shrine at Sault Set. Marie, and a life member of several Masonic Orders. Masonic services were held at Cheyboygan Friday at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Edinger officiating. Saturday at 1:30 p.m. funeral services were conducted by Rev. Paul Robinson at the Methodist Church with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Surviving are his wife Iva, one daughter, Mrs. O. K. Trower of Cheboygan; one sister Mrs. Ray Colwell of Ionia; six grand children and six great grand children.
