Bradley, 73, of Stanwood, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born September 8, 1932, in Detroit, the son of Glen and Helen (Green) Bradley, and the grandson of Gov. Fred Warren Green, the 51st Governor of Michigan. Fred earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University. Upon his graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years, attaining the rank of Lt. JG. Following his discharge, he returned to Michigan, and worked in the Grand Rapids area until moving to Stanwood 8 years ago. Fred served as Building Inspector for Mecosta County and Big Rapids Township, and also taught Residential Builder’s Licensing classes at Ferris State University and Montcalm Community College. Fred was active in environmental issues, including the Great Lakes Watershed Project and other community projects. In 1952, he married Patricia L. Haas, who survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Diane Christiansen (Dominic Ausellio) of Long Lake, Glen Bradley (Bonnie Jones) of Carrboro, NC, Kathy Bradley (Frank McMillan) of Hubbardston, Fred (Karen) Bradley of Grand Rapids, and Suzy (Jerry) Kozlowski of Grand Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his Doberman Sadie; and several nieces and nephews. His sister, Helen Tyrrell, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, December 31, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Rev. Ronald White officiating. Burial will be in the Balcom Cemetery near Ionia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Salvation Army or to Doberman Rescue Unlimited Incorporated may be left at the funeral home, where Fred’s family will greet friends after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
