Braendle, 94, former partner with her husband, Frank, in the Gazette Publishing Co., died Monday, April 18, 2005, at Carriage House Nursing Home, Bay City. She was born May 30, 1910, to Charles and Ella Smith Cutler at the family farm in Easton Township, Ionia County. She was the youngest of seven children. Carrie graduated from Saranac High School in 1927 and worked in the bakery there prior to marrying Frank M. Braendle of Clarksville. After working for several weekly newspapers in central Michigan, Carrie, frank and their two sons moved in 1945 from Stanton to Carson City, where they had purchased The Carson City Gazette. She lived in their home at 221 W. Walnut, Carson City, until 2002, when she moved to Schafer’s AFC in Carson City. Carrie was a charter member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Stanton and the Stanton-Montcalm Auxiliary of Gideons International. While she was able, she participated in the activities of the Carson City United Methodist Church. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; son, Jerry; daughter-in-law, Lorena Durbin Braendle; two brothers, Earl and Jesse Cutler; four sisters, Eva Houseman, Elma Cutler, Lydia Bradley, Marian Grant Johnson; and granddaughter, Debra Braendle Staskiewicz. She is survived by son, David and his wife Betty of Bay City; daughter-in-law, Gloria and Jerry Braendle of Carson City; six grandchildren, Barbara and Jan Beaderstandt, Marci Grace Braendle, Karen and Clinton Harrison, Robert and Anna Braendle, Sandra Braendle, Michael and Stephanie Braendle; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral and committal services are 11 a.m. Friday at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City, with Pastor Ken Nash officiating. Interment is in Clarksville Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Stanton or the United Methodist Church of Carson City.
