She was born in Greenville, Michigan on November 11, 1947, the daughter of Karl and Elizabeth H. (Gruschinsky) Schnicke. She graduated from Greenville High School. She married Wayne Douglas “Doug” Brainard in 1984 and he preceded her in death. She worked for a school system for a number of years, did housekeeping and served as bookkeeper for her and her husband’s trucking company for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and ceramics, even starting her own ceramics business following the death of her husband. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. The memory of Judy will be cherished by her children, Pamela S. (Alberto) Pacheco of Belding, Thomas F. Caniff of Rockford and Christopher of Orleans; grandchildren Celestina Pacheco, Carigan Pacheco, Erica Brainard, Heather Brainard, Amber Brainard, David Wilson, Adam Holland, Riley Miller and Wayne Caniff; and her 4 great grandchildren with another one due in early in 2015; brothers Paul Schnicke of Florida and David (Jan) Schnicke of California. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Schnicke. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, July 26 at 12:00 noon at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. The family will greet visitors at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
