Brake, 71, well-known Campbell township farmer, will be held at Pleasant Valley United Brethren church Saturday at 2 o'clock following prayer service at the residence at 1:30 Rev. J. I. Batdorf, of Woodland will officiate assisted by Rev. M. W. W. Moxon, of Hastings. Burial will be in Holy Corners cemetery. Mr. Brake, who had resided on his farm three and one-half miles southwest of Clarksville for a half a century, died Wednesday morning of pneumonia that climaxed a lingering illness of three years duration. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Barbara Wenger Brake, with whom he had celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary December 21: two sons, Elwood M. Brake, Ionia county school superintendent; and John E. Brake, Campbell township, two daughters, Mrs. Arthur VanAllsburg, Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Donald Slowins, Portland; a brother, M. C. Brake, Newport Richey, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Good, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Ida Livingston, Clarksville; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Brake was born in Caledonia township, Barry county, as was Mrs. Brake.
