Floyd M. Brand, age 89, of Saranac passed away October 24, 2006 in Saranac.  
He was born December 19, 1916 in Montcalm County the son of A.S. Alva and Maud 
(Canfield) Brand.  Floyd married Beatrice Martinson September 1940 who 
preceded him in death June 1970.  He then went on to marry Gertrude Compagner 
July of 1972.  He was a member of Saranac Community Church and Saranac Lions 
Club.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Gertrude Brand of Lowell; 
daughters, Barbara and Timothy Fenn of Saranac, Gloria and Robert Veurink of 
Florida; step daughters, Karen and Ken Christopher of Sutton Bay, Kathy and 
Calvin Powell of Cedar; granddaughter Beth and Russell Thomas of Ionia; step 
grandchildren, Jonah, Kelly and Jake; great grandchildren, Justin Nicholas and 
Emma.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clyde, Samuel 
and Durwood Brand; two sisters, Edrie Wolverton, Hazel Bice and one 
granddaughter Heather.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac 
with Rev. John Madvig officiating. Interment Balcom Cemetery. The family will 
receive friends and relatives 7-8:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Anyone 
wishing may make memorial contributions in Floyd’s name to Ionia Area Hospice.
