Brands, 50, of Lyons passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2011. He was born in Lansing, MI on December 13, 1960 to Phyllis E. (Gage) Brands and Thomas O. Brands. Tommy spent most of his life in Sunfield, and moved to Lyons in 2001. Tommy was a beloved brother, son, uncle and friend. In each of these roles, he displayed a generous spirit and a kind heart. He asked little of others and offered unconditional acceptance from a nonjudgemental heart. Tommy was a giver. He had a hert of gold and a trusting nature. Because of this, he was easily taken advantage of. Tommy loved to watch baseball and football, and was a fan of modified stock car racing. In recent months he achieved his dream of earning his motorcycle license and bought a Harley Davidson. He loved to ride with his brother Rich and cousin Steven Holton. Tommy demanded little from life other than a simple night out of dancing with friends. Tommy is survived by his sisters Jeannie Kirchen of Williamston, MI and Phoenix, AZ, Marcia (Barry) McIntyre of Grand Ledge, and brother Richard (Sandy) Brands of Ionia. He is also survived by 4 nieces and 3 nephews, plus his aunts, uncles and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas O. and Phyllis E. Brands, and his brother-in-law Cecil K. Kirchen, jr. Visitation will be held at Rosier Funeral Home in Sunfield from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5th. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Carpenter of the Sunfield United Brethren Church presiding. Contributions may be made to the Lions Club, or the Sunfield Area Sponsors of Programs for Youth, aka S.P.Y.'s RFH PO Box 36 Sunfield, MI 48890.
