Ionia Sentinel Standard, 7 Nov 1979

Jacob Brandsen, 89, of 5135 Hinds Road, Ionia, died Monday at his residence.  He
was born Oct. 31, 1890, in Holland, the son of Peter Brandsen and Alice Talen. 
He was a retired furniture worker.

Survivors include two sons, Alfred of Ionia, Gordon of Portland; three
daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Hoort of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Pauline Arneson of
Portland, Mrs. Harriett Baxter of Grand Ledge; 21 grandchildren 48
great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Albert and
Harry, both of Holland; one brother-in-law, Peter Knoll of Holland.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Portland Christian
Reformed Church with the Rev. Julius Vigh and the Rev. Haremon Kuyzema
officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Pall Bearers
will be Robert, Roger and Russell Brandsen, James Hoort, Loren Arneson, and
Michael and Stephen Baxter.  Family will receive friends and relatives at the
Neller Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
