The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, June 15, 1955
Ernest A. Brandt, 49, of Route 1, Portland, died at Pennock hospital Tuesday 
afternoon at 3:30 of a heart ailment.  Mr. Brandt was born November 24, 1905 
in Germany, son of Fred and Augusta Brandt.  He came to this area with his 
parents when a baby and had lived his entire life in the vicinity with the 
exception of a short time when he worked for the Hayes Manufacturing Company 
of Grand rapids. 

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Grace Clem of Carlton Center, Mrs. Frieda 
Corey of Grand Ledge and three brothers, William of Woodbury and Frank and 
Robert of Ionia. 

The body reposes at the Pickens funeral chapel.  Funeral services will be held 
Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  Burial will be at the Woodland Memorial 
cemetery.
