Brandt, 66, of 221 Maple street, Woodbury, died at 1:46 Sunday morning in Pennock hospital, Hastings, following an illness of several years. Born November 12, 1898 in Germany, he was the son of Frederick and Augusta Rupke Brandt and was married to Geneva Lance September 22, 1917 in St. Joseph county. He came to the Lake Odessa area in 1934 and for the past 23 years had resided in Woodbury where he attended United Brethren church. A former employee of Lansing Oldsmobile Mr. Brandt retired in 1961. Previously he had been a farmer. Surviving are his wife, Geneva; four daughters, Mrs. Harold Laux and Mrs. Harrison Brock of Lake Odessa; Mrs. Paul Green of Portland and Mrs. Vernon Brock of Woodland; five sons, Ray and Max of Lake Odessa, Donald of Ionia, Kenneth of Woodland and Carl of Clarksville; 24 grandchildren; two sisters; Mrs. Miles Sawdy of Clarksville and Mrs. Allen Corey of Grand Ledge; and two brothers, Frank of Ionia and Robert of Clarksville. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa with burial at Woodland Memorial cemetery; the Rev. Torrey Barcanic of Woodbury United Brethren church officiating.
