Mrs. William Briggs died at her home in Lake Odessa, August 9, 1907.  She was 
a great sufferer from heart trouble and dropsy for over two years.  Mrs. 
Briggs was a daughter of the late Curtis Mitchell, of Berlin, and was born in 
1861.  She was married to William Briggs, of Sebewa, Jan. 5, 1881.  To them 
were born four children.  Mildred died in 1882, Edith is the wife of Jay I. 
Harwood, of Grand Rapids, Guy now in the U.B.A. hospital in Grand Rapids, and 
Martha the youngest.  Her two brothers, are Millard Mitchell, of Berlin, and 
George Mitchell, of Milbank, South Dakota.  There are many relatives and 
friends to mourn her death.  Mrs. Briggs was converted two years ago when she 
joined the Congregational church.  The funeral was attended from the 
residence, Monday, Aug. 12, Rev. W. J. Prestige officiating, interment in 
Lakeside cemetery at Lake Odessa.

Mrs. Briggs moved to Lake Odessa in March, 1903.  Many friends from Berlin, 
Orange, Ionia and Odessa attended the funeral.  Among those present to extend 
sympathy were Mr. and Mrs. A. Dillenbeck, Mr. and Mrs. J. Bessy, of Ionia, Mr. 
and Mrs. C. Sackett, of Grand Ledge, Mrs. Mains and Miss Lena Arnold of South 
Ionia, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Durkee, of Ionia.
