Ionia County News, 9 Jun 1947

Funeral service for Edwin C. Briggs, [age unreadable] was held Wednesday from 
Myers Funeral Home and burial was at Balcom cemetery beside his wife, who died 
in June 1944.

Mr. Briggs had been a guest of his brother, Luther, at Clarkston when he became 
ill and was taken to Pontiac General Hospital, where he died Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Briggs was born in Ovid April 29, 1886, but had lived in Ionia for many 
years.  He was employed at the Reformatory for several years and also served 
Ionia city several years as special officer until his retirement two years 
ago.  He is survived by another brother, Harry Briggs, of St. Joseph.
