Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 12 & 17 Oct 1921

Sidney Briggs, age about 34 years, died this morning at Kalamazoo.  It is
expected that the body will arrive sometime tomorrow and the funeral
announcement will be made later.

The funeral for Sidney Briggs was held from the Bradley-Sparks chapel Saturday
afternoon at 2 o’clock.  Rev. E.E. Branch officiated and the music was furnished
by Mrs. Myrtle Peck and Mrs. Ray Colwell.  The burial took place in Highland
Park cemetery.  The floral offerings were many and beautiful and the funeral was
largely attended.

Obituary

Sidney Martin Briggs, 37 years old passed away Wednesday morning after a short
illness.  Sid was born at the farm home near Palo, Montcalm County.  After
growing to manhood, most of his life was spent in Ionia and Grand Rapids.  He
was united in marriage to Gladys Clark in August 1916 to this union was born one
child Thomas.

He was a most kind and considerate husband and father, a loving son and brother
and had a host of friends where ever he happened to be.  He brought sunshine to
all with his ever ready smile and cheerful words.  Those two mourn the sad loss
besides the wife and a son are a mother, Clara J. Briggs, three sisters, Mrs.
Addie Bennett, Mrs. Hattie Matthews, Mary Briggs and a host of relatives and
friends.
