Lake Odessa Wave
     MARIE BRIGGS
   LAKE ODESSA - A former Lake Odessa resident, Mrs. Marie Duncan Briggs, 85, widow
of Guy H. Briggs, died Thursday at the Medical Arts Center at Coastal, Ga., where she had 
been a patient the past two years. She lived at Jekyll Island, Ga., with a daughter.
   Born April 1, 1888, in Young America, Ind., she was the daughter of Benjamin and
Caroline Barnett Duncan. She had lived in Lake Odessa before moving to Hastings where 
she graduated from high school.
   In 1911 she was married to Guy Briggs and made her home in Lake Odessa several
years where she was employed by Consumers Power Company.  She had lived in New York state 
and also Pittsburgh, Pa., and West Allis, Wisconsin.  Her husband met accidental death in 
New York state in 1929.
   Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Nedra Rose of Jekyll, Ga., four grandchildren; 
brother, Floyd Duncan of Clinton.
   Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 pm at Pickens-Koops funeral chapel in
Lake Odessa.  Rev. James Leasure of the Lakewood Baptist church will officiate and interment 
will be at Lakeside cemetery.
