The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, July 26, 1955
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Joyce Payne Brigham Monday at the Colonial 
Chapel at Estes-Leadley funeral home in Lansing with interment at Oak Hill 
cemetery in Ionia.  

Mrs. Brigham was born in Ionia July 10, 1905, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
Joyce Payne and had lived the greater part of her life here.  Survivors are 
her mother, Mrs. Ruby Payne of Lansing, two uncles, Guy Sayles of Ionia and 
Forrest Sayles of LaPorte, Indiana, two aunts and many cousins.

Joyce Payne was killed in the flash flood of June 6, 1906, several weeks 
before his daughter was born.
