Bulman gave the sermon. Burial was at Lake Side Cemetery. Obituary Margaret Ann Swarthout, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Swarthout, was born March 31, 1833, near Waterloo, N.Y., and departed this life August 19, 1929, aged 96 years 4 months and 19 days. She moved with her parents when a child to Lenawee county, Michigan, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to George Brisbin in 1853 and to this union were born nine children, four boys and five girls, four having preceded her in death. There remains to mourn their loss, Charles E. of Carlton, Barry county, Phoebe J. Woodard of Lansing, William H. of Ionia, Lillie Lapo and Linden J. Brisbin of Odessa. About 66 years ago they moved from Lenawee county to the farm home one half mile west of Lake Odessa where she has since resided. She passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. Lona Lapo where she was taken a few days before her death and tenderly cared for. They came through from Lenawee county with horse team and sleighs bringing their household goods and family through the then almost unbroken forest. The endured all the hardships and privations incidental to pioneer life and home building. Her husband died about 43 years ago since which she has maintained her home, giving liberally to her children and furnishing a home to one or more most of the time. She was of a kind and cheerful nature always making friends with all whom she met. She will be greatly missed by her children and friends in the neighborhood where she has lived so long.
