The Ionia Standard, Friday, July 31, 1885

A little child of Charles Broad died very suddenly on Sunday morning.  It was 
3˝ years old and went to bed apparently well at night.  The mother got up at 5 
o’clock in the morning and noticed the child was in a stupor, from which it 
could not be aroused.  Dr. Joslin was called but the child died at 9 o’clock.  
The doctor was inclined to think it a case of sunstroke.
