FORMER RESIDENT DIES AT DETROIT.

James Broad, 32, former resident of Ionia, died at a Detroit hospital on Monday 
afternoon, following a brief illness. He was well known here although he left 
the city more than 15 years ago.

The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon from the residence of George Broad, 
a brother, 224 Fargo street, with Rev. Thomas Leroy Parker, rector of the St. 
John Episcopal church, in charge. Interment was made in Highland Park cemetery. 
The body arrived in this city from Detroit on Tuesday night.

He is survived by a widow, a step daughter, Mrs. Clyde Shepardson; five 
sisters, Mrs. Nellie Holcomb of Ronald township, Mrs. Margaret G. Hall of 
Detroit, Mrs. Charles Miller of Redford, Mrs. Victoria Belzer of Farmington, 
and Mrs. Annie F. Broad of Detroit; two brothers, George Broad and Clare Broad 
of Ionia.
