Ionia Sentinel Standard, 14 Dec 1972

Former employee of Michigan’s Parks and Recreation division, Clare Broad, 74, of
3733 Stage road, died at his home Wednesday evening.  Born in Ionia October 7,
1898, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Broad and married the former Gertrude
Myers in Ionia Nov. 8, 1921.  His services with the Michigan Conservation
department covered a span of some 26 years.  He was a member of Ionia Masonic
Lodge and attended St. John Episcopal church.

Surviving relatives include his wife; a sister, Mrs. C.C. Miller of Detroit and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at Myers-Roetman funeral home at 1 pm December 16, the Rev.
Charles Lynch of St. John Episcopal Church officiating.  Burial will be in
Balcom cemetery.  A memorial has been established for the cardiac unit at Ionia
County Memorial hospital.  Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
